Holidays can be a ton of fun, but they can also create a lot of waste…wasted paper, wasted energy, wasted food, and the list goes on. Luckily there are a lot of really simple steps you can take to green up your holiday! This will be the first in a series of blogs to help you do just that!
Today is “Black Friday,” which means insane shoppers, sweet deals, and terrible traffic…but it also means that the winter holidays are right around the corner! Holidays can be a ton of fun, but they can also create a lot of waste…wasted paper, wasted energy, wasted food, and the list goes on. Luckily there are a lot of really simple steps you can take to green up your holiday! This will be the first in a series of blogs to help you do just that!
New York City is setting a great example for us all! The famous Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is going to be illuminated this year by solar powered LED lights. The new lights (30,000 of them on 5 miles of wire, to be exact) will use only a fraction of the power as last year. In fact, they’ll be saving as much energy as a single family would use in a whole month! Their new solar roof is the largest private solar roof in the city, and it will be helping to power the tree, cut carbon emissions, and of course set a great green example.
You too can light your tree and your home with LED lights. This will help you not only cut your power usage and carbon footprint…it’ll also save you money. And of course going solar would do the same, although that one is a little harder to implement.
What are you doing to green up this holiday season? Check back next week for another blog about a cleaner and greener holiday.
