Buildings cannot be taller than 160 ft which allows for unobstructed views of the surrounding scenery and recently Washington DC passed a Green Building Act that is setting new standards for growing cities worldwide. The Act, which went into effect March of 2007, requires any new building to comply with LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards. The passing of the Green Building Act made DC the very first city to require LEED compliance for public and private projects.
