Virgin Atlantic has teamed up with ultra green British clothing company, Worn Again, to develop a trendy new way to give old aircraft seat covers (and bicycle tires, tents and seat belts) a new life. Together the companies have designed a unique line of couture bags for men and women. And, with all the celebrity's who've flown on Vigrin over the years, we'll all be wondering "whos bum's been on mine?!"
Virgin has set itself an ambitious goal to reduce the waste it sends to landfills 50% by 2012. Their donation of 1000 seats to Worn Again will surely help them on their way. 2000 limited edition bags have been hand made so far in family run and small scale workshops in Portugal. Since they're handmade, no two bags are alike, and each one come with an ingredients list inside. The "Lydia" bag's ingredients list contains: Virgin Atlantic seat covers, seat belts, bicycle inner tubes, factory scrap materials.
Want one? Worn Again Virgin bags will be available at Terra Plana and John Lewis stores around the world and on the Worn Again website (www.wornagain.co.uk). The bags will also be available in stores in Romania, Israel and The Philippines.
